I know this is an old post, but, my god, I have spent the entire morning trying to find out why my live NFL scoreboard updates every 15 seconds beautifully in FireFox, and in IE doesn't update and doesn't give an error. The thought that it was doing this had occurred to me, but I thought it was too stupid to even consider.

Thank you so much. Now I know why other examples I've seen have a "?sid=" + Math.random() appended to every url.

--A grateful web developer.

P.S. This "feature" is still implemented in IE8.
