Essential ActionScript 2.0
January 10th, 2006
Struggling with Object-Oriented Programming in ActionScript 2.0? If you are like me, you understand OOP concepts, are familar with classes & objects in other languages, but failed to use them effectively in ActionScript.
The mystery is over. I bought Essential ActionScript 2.0 on a recommendation, and it is, by far, the most comprehensive and understandable instruction on OOP in AS2.0 I’ve come across yet.
Moock’s book is not a full-blown ActionScript 2.0 reference. For that, get Moock’s own ActionScript for Flash MX: The Definitive Guide, Second Edition. Rather, it’s a comprehensive walk-through of the benefits and best-practices for OOP in AS2.
He has a very instructional style that bounces between pure classroom theory and practical implementation. I’ll be spending some quality time with this one for a while come.
Also be sure to check out Moock’s site here.
